The classic 1987 tale of Bigfoot and a family from Seattle, Harry and the Hendersons was directed and produced by William Dear, who got his start directing with the 1973 movie Nymph, with the tag line “A little girl in a woman’s body, underage and overeager”. He would later direct Angels in the Outfield, so it all works out. Harry and the Hendersons starred John Lithgow as George Henderson, Melinda Dillon as Nancy Henderson, Margaret Langrick as Sarah Henderson, Joshua Rudoy as Ernie Henderson, and Kevin Peter Hall as Harry the Sasquatch.
Harry and the Hendersons is one of the best Bigfoot movies ever made and appropriate for the whole family. Several of the investigator characters are based on real Bigfoot researchers. Steven Spielberg’s influence, as an uncredited executive producer, is all over the movie, as it has a very ‘Spielberg late 80’s/early 90s’ vibe.
